About Aguas Calientes City Guide

Why this site exists

A trip through Aguas Calientes is decided by three things booked in the wrong order: the Machu Picchu entrance ticket (sold by circuit and by hourly slot, with no re-entry), the bus or trail up the hill, and the train in or out with an 8 kg carry-on limit. Buy the wrong circuit, miss a train, or arrive without a booked slot and the day does not recover. So every ticket rule, tariff and schedule figure here is read off the body that actually sets it, not off a blog repeating a figure nobody re-checked.

Where the official source states no figure, this site says so instead of guessing one.

Where the information comes from

Ticket names, circuit and route rules, entry slots and conduct rules come from the Ministerio de Cultura's own pages for the sanctuary, machupicchu.gob.pe and the booking site tuboleto.cultura.pe, plus the resolutions they publish as PDFs. Trail permits and the Inca Trail come from SERNANP, sernanp.gob.pe and its visitor portal. Train schedules and luggage rules come from PeruRail (perurail.com) and Inca Rail (incarail.com) directly.

Bus fares to the ruins come from Consettur's own last published tariff, read through the Wayback Machine where its current site blocks automated access, and stated here as exactly that: the operator's last openly published figure, not a current guarantee. Town facts and district history draw on the Municipalidad Distrital de Machupicchu and Wikipedia, named as such. Tour prices, durations, ratings and review counts are the booking platform's own published numbers, read on the date shown on the card.

What we do not claim

There is no invented author here, no character who claims to live in Aguas Calientes, and no claim that someone from this site walked a particular trail on a particular morning. We do not operate or personally conduct these tours, and we do not run the ticket office, the trains or the bus.

We also hold no bookings. Every Check Availability button hands you to the platform the tour, ticket or bus pass is sold on, where the price, the terms and the cancellation window are theirs. Where buying at the official source is the better move, such as the entrance ticket at tuboleto.cultura.pe or a train direct from PeruRail or Inca Rail, the page says so and links there plainly, with no tracking on the link.

How the site pays for itself

Tour, ticket, bus and train links on this site are affiliate links: book through one and the platform pays us a commission, at the same price you would have paid going there yourself. That pays for the research and buys nothing else, not placement, not a rating, not the wording of a recommendation. Where the official channel is cheaper or the only sensible option, the page says so even though that link earns nothing.

Corrections

Ticket tariffs, circuit rules and train schedules for Machu Picchu change, sometimes with little notice. If a figure here is out of date, write to us with what you found and where. A corrected figure is worth more than a defended one.
